SC State Basketball Teams Host Norfolk St. In MEAC Doubleheader

Senior guard Tiara Knotts leads the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 16.2 point per game.

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will host MEAC foe Norfolk State, in a pivotal league showdown Monday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
       The Bulldogs enter the contest with a 4-3 record, while the Lady Bulldogs are 4-2 on the season.
        Coach Doug Robertson and the Lady Bulldogs are coming off a tough 59-46 decision to league powerhouse Hampton. The women are led in scoring by senior guard Tiara Knotts with 16.2, senior forward Paris Alston leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds, while tossing in 9.7 per game.
        Meanwhile, the Bulldogs knocked off a tough Jacksonville Dolphin team in their last outing 74-72 at S-H-M Center. Junior guard Adama “Louis” Adams led the way with 16 points, five assist, and five rebounds, while the man in the middle Matthew Hezekiah had a monster game defensively with 12 points, four rebounds and a game-high six block shots. Senior guard Khalif Toombs finished with a game-high 10 assists in the win.
          Toombs is the leader in scoring with 16.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while Adams chips in 15.3 ppg, and 2.4 rebounds. Hezekiah leads the team in rebounding with 8.3 and scoring 13.0 ppg.
           The defending MEAC Champion Spartan enters the contest having knocked off Regular Season Champion     Savannah State 55-45 in Savannah on Saturday. Norfolk State is led in scoring by Pendarvis Williams with 11.7 ppg, and 3.8 rebounds, while teammate Malcolm Hawkins adds 10.8 per outing.
