SC State Women’s Soccer Host North Dakota in Great West Conference Opener

Olivia Moore currently leads the team with 4 points
Orangeburg, S.C.--The SC State women's soccer team will resume action this Saturday (Oct. 1) when they host North Dakota in their 2011 Great West Conference (GWC) opener.  First kick for the match is at 7 p.m. at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on the campus of SC State.

SC State enters the contest with an overall record of 1-6-2 after falling to Longwood, 1-2, in their last outing (Sept. 25). Morgan Roesler scored the team's only goal with a header off the corner kick by Veronica Aguilar in the 51st minute.  Overall, Olivia Moore leads the Lady Bulldogs with two goals for four points.

North Dakota comes into the contest with a 4-5-2 overall record and 1-0 in the GWC after defeating Delaware State in double-overtime, 2-1, on Thursday.  The match was the conference opener for both teams.  On the season Rachael Loomis currently leads the Fighting Sioux with six goals with four assists for 16 points.

Saturday's contest is just the second time in history that the two teams have met.  The first meeting between the two was during the 2010 GWC post-season tournament semi-final with the Fighting Sioux coming out with a 3-2 victory.

SC State will travel to Washington, DC next Thursday, Oct. 6 to take on Howard University in their second GWC match-up of the season.  The Lady Bulldogs will return home on Thursday, Oct. 13 to host Delaware State University.  First kick for that match-up is set for 7:00 p.m.
