Georgia St. Hands SC State 85-54 Setback

Riley leads SC State with a game-high 22 points

Box Score ORANGEBURG, SC — South Carolina State senior guard Brandon Riley poured in a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds, but it wasn't as Georgia State cruised to an 85-54 victory at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
       SC State falls to 4-3 on the season, while Georgia State improves to 4-3.
       The Panthers was led in scoring by senior forward Eric Buckner with 21 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Devonta White added 17 in the victory.
        The first half was Georgia State jumping out to a quick 19 point lead, 31-12 off a jumper by Devonta White at the 10:29 mark. Riley nailed a 3-pointer with 9:24 left in the half to cut the lead to 14, 31-17.
        A 3-pointer by Josh Micheaux extended the Panthers lead to 23, 45-22 with 2:27 left. The Panthers led 51-27 at halftime. Georgia State shot 53.8% from the 3-point line in the first-half converting 7-of-13 from behind the arch.
         A 3-pointer by Rashad Richardson gave Georgia State its biggest lead of the night 36, 85-49 with 2:56 left in the game. Junior guard Aaron Martin closed out the game nailing a 3-pointer.
          The Panthers were also led by sophomore Rashaad Richardson with 12 points and Tony Kimbro with 10. Junior guard Khalif Toombs added 12 in the loss for the Bulldogs.
          Next up SC State will be on the road for a two-game road swing beginning Friday against Longwood with a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Bulldogs then return to action on Monday when they open conference play versus Norfolk State in an 8 p.m. start.
