KENNESAW, GA—The South Carolina State Bulldogs look to rebound and get back on the winning track when they travel to take on a tough Kennesaw State Owls team Saturday at the Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
Saturday's game will mark the Owls first-ever match-up against South Carolina State. The Bulldogs compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, with the Owls having an all-time record of 2-3 against opponents from that league. They last faced an MEAC program on Dec. 13, 2008, falling to Florida A&M, 63-58.
The Bulldogs (3-2) enter the contest after suffering a tough 70-50 defeat to #9 Baylor University on Tuesday, while the Owls (2-2) look for their third-straight victory after posting wins over Chattanooga (65-59) and Reinhardt (72-46).
SC State is led by junior point guard Khalif Toombs with 13.3 ppg, and 5.2 rpg, while senior forward Presano Bell chips in 9.8 ppg, and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per outing. Markeith Cummings leads the Owls with 17.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, while Spencer Dixon is chipping in 11.2 points per contest.
Following Saturday's contest, SC State will return to action on Tuesday when the Bulldogs host Georgia State in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Center.
