SC State Women’s Basketball Drops Non-Conference Contest to Clemson

Knotts scored 12 points in the losing effort
Box Score
Clemson, SC (Nov. 13, 2011)—Junior point guard Tiara Knotts scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half as the SC State Lady Bulldogs fell to Clemson, 38-83, in a non-conference matchup in Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday.

SC State offense was stagnant throughout the game as they shot just a total of 18.5 percent from the field for the game.  The Lady Bulldogs were outrebounded 60-28 but did manage to shoot 57 percent from the charity stripe (15-of-26).

“We just couldn't get going offensively and our lack of rebounding hurt us,” said fourth year head coach Doug Robertson, Jr.  “On the bright side, it's only the second game, so we have plenty time to fix our mistakes.”

The Lady Bulldogs received additional scoring from Trinese Fox with seven points and Cabriel Duren with five points.  Duren also led the team in rebounding with six boards.

Clemson had four players to finish with double-digit points led by Shaniqua Pauldo with 21.  Quinyotta Pettaway had 16, Kelly Gramlich had 15 and Nikki Dixon scored 11 in the contest.  Chancie Dunn and Natiece Ford pulled in eight rebounds each as the Lady Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season.

SC State will play its next two contests at home beginning this Saturday, Nov. 19 when they host Presbyterian in a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.  The Lady Bulldogs will then host Charleston Southern (Nov. 26) before hitting the road for six straight games.
