A standout wide receiver at SC State for four years (1967-70)...Was an attention grabber despite being a part of a run-oriented offense most of his Bulldog career...led the team in receptions as a senior with 19 catches for 273 yards and seven TDs...Set a then single-game receptions record in 1970 when he grabbed nine passes for 128 yards against archrival NC A&T...finished his career with 12 touchdowns for over 700 yards and despite being used primarily as a blocker in SC State’s run-oriented offense... Honors included MVP of the Pumpkin Classic (1969), Team Sportsmanship Award (1969), Most Outstanding Receiver (1969 & 1970), and 100 Percent Wrong Club All-Star Team 1969 & 1970)...member of SC State’s Centennial (1907-2007) Football Team...Was selected in the 13th round of the NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers..Was the leading receiver in the AFC Championship Game: Pittsburgh vs. Miami in 72...Also played for the New York Stars and Charlotte Hornets in the WFL...Went on to become a successful high school football, track and field coach and basketball coach...He currently resides in North Augusta, South Carolina where he is a physical education instructor and head coach of the varsity boys basketball team...Has earned several coaching honors, including region and state high school coach of the year.
