Dr. Caleen Hawkins

Dr. Caleen Hawkins entered her first season in 2022 as Assistant Coach of the South Carolina State University Bulldogs. During the season she was promoted to Interim Head Coach leading the team to its first set win of the season vs. Morgan State University.  

 Hawkins is a former HBCU Division I (SC State) and Division II (Claflin University) Collegiate Volleyball player. She was a-part of the MEAC championship team in 2010 who were recently inducted into the SC State Hall of Fame (2021). Hawkins obtained many accolades as a Collegiate athlete including Athlete of the Year in 2014 (Claflin University), SIAC all-conference team (2014/2015), NCAA record holder (2015) and she lead Claflin University to a SIAC Championship in 2015.  

Hawkins has 11 years of successful coaching experience at an elite club level in South Carolina obtaining National Bids and Division Championships. From 2017-2021 Hawkins has assisted the Blythewood Highschool Volleyball Program where they have obtained several regional titles and graduated several athletes to continue to compete at the Division I level. She is known for training and developing fundamentals and collegiate level athletes.  

Dr. Hawkins is a licensed physical therapist which uniquely equips her to use her doctoral knowledge to help athletes prepare for the highest level of competition and prevent injuries. She is dedicated to helping young female athletes become the best version(s) of themselves physically and mentally. As an HBCU graduate and a combined 14 plus years of collegiate playing and coaching experience she is prepared for any challenge. “In Volleyball and In Life” – Coach Hawkins
