Chymaine Guinyard

Chymaine Guinyard enters her second season as assistant women's volleyball coach at South Carolina State University after building a successful coaching résumé at both the collegiate and high school levels.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Guinyard served as head women's volleyball coach at Fort Valley State University, where she guided the Lady Wildcats to a third-place finish in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) South Division and the program's first SIAC Tournament appearance since 2008. Her team advanced to a third-place finish in the conference tournament while producing several award-winning student-athletes, including First Team All-SIAC selection Antonique Coleman and SIAC Freshman of the Year Dakotah Holmes, who ranked 12th nationally in NCAA Division II in blocks per set and earned Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Region Second Team honors. Under her leadership, Sarah Rosario also ranked 13th nationally in aces per set, while multiple players earned weekly SIAC honors throughout the season.

Before Fort Valley State, Guinyard spent four seasons as head coach at Claflin University after serving as assistant coach (2017-18) and interim head coach (2019). She led the Lady Panthers to two winning seasons, highlighted by a 15-10 overall record and an 11-5 CIAA mark in 2021. During her tenure, Claflin produced the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year, multiple All-CIAA selections and numerous weekly conference award winners. Her student-athletes consistently ranked among NCAA Division II national leaders in aces per set, digs per set and blocks per set.

Guinyard began her head coaching career at Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, South Carolina, where she led the program to the Class 2A state playoffs in her only season. She also coached a WLTX Player of the Week recipient and a Class 2A All-Region selection.

An experienced club volleyball coach, Guinyard has worked with the Branchville Juniors Club Volleyball program and the Orangeburg Lady Cubs Club Volleyball organization, helping develop young talent throughout South Carolina.

Guinyard has also earned recognition through numerous national coaching development programs. She served as a lead facilitator for the APPLE Training Institute/NCAA Sport Science Collaborative, participated in the TruNorth Sports Coach Development Academy, and was selected for the inaugural Reach & Teach: Big 12 Volleyball Diversity Mentoring Program. She is a graduate of the WeCOACH NCAA Women's Coaches Academy (Class No. 50) and was selected as a coach for the USA Volleyball High Performance Camp in 2022. In 2024, she served as liaison for the CIAA Student-Athlete Empowerment Program.

She is IMPACT certified through the Palmetto Region Volleyball Association and maintains memberships with USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

A native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Guinyard starred as a four-year student-athlete at Claflin University. She was a member of the 2014 Lady Panthers team that captured the program's first SIAC championship and earned the school's first automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Claflin in 2016.
