ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State volleyball is taking its rivalry with crosstown opponent Claflin University beyond the court as the programs prepare for the Battle of the Burg Baby Essentials Drive, a community initiative designed to support families throughout Orangeburg.

Bulldog Nation is encouraged to help the Lady Bulldogs make an impact off the court by donating new, unused baby diapers and wipes. Donations are being accepted now through Sept. 14, with every contribution counting toward SC State's drive total while benefiting families in the Orangeburg community.

SC State students can drop off donations at the Bulldog Lounge Desk inside the K.W. Green Student Center. Community members can contribute at the SC State Ticket Office. All donated items must be new and unused.

The community initiative leads into back-to-back volleyball matches between the crosstown programs. SC State will host Claflin on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. inside Dukes Gymnasium. The teams will meet again Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. inside Tullis Arena on the campus of Claflin University.

The Battle of the Burg gives the two programs an opportunity to showcase their competitive spirit while emphasizing a larger purpose — coming together to serve their community.
SC State fans, students, alumni and supporters are encouraged to fill the donation boxes, spread the word and help the Lady Bulldogs make a difference for local families.
