WASHINGTON— South Carolina State men's basketball team dropped a tough Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road contest versus Howard Saturday (Feb.7) inside Burr Gymnasium.
South Carolina State (6-17, 4-3 MEAC) struggled offensively, shooting just 32.8 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from 3-point range.
Jayden Johnson led the Bulldogs with 11 points, while
Noah Treadwell added 13 on four 3-pointers.
Jamal Miles chipped in eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
Cedric Taylor III scored 24 points and Bryce Harris added 23 for Howard (15-9, 5-3 MEAC) who shot 51 percent from the field and used a strong first half to take control early, never trailing in the contest.
The Bison led 36-24 at halftime and pulled away behind efficient shooting and consistent trips to the free-throw line, where they converted 28 of 36 attempts.
Howard used a 13-0 run midway through the first half to extend its lead to double digits and maintained control throughout, leading by as many as 28 points in the second half. The Bison also dominated inside, outscoring the Bulldogs 38-20 in the paint and forcing 17 turnovers.
