ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will look to extend their winning streak to eight straight when they host Howard in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) battle inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM.
The Bulldogs (16-12 overall, 9-3/2
nd place) enters the contest after knocking off top-ranked Norfolk State 91-88 Saturday (March.2
nd) at home. Sophomore forward
Drayton Jones finished with a team-high 20 points and eight (8) rebounds, while
Davion Everett recoded the games only double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Howard (12-17 overall, 7-5 MEAC) dropped back-to-back lead losses to Coppin State (61-72) and North Carolina Central (68-72). Three Bison are in double figures with Blake Harper tossing in 19.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg, Marcus Dockery with 16.6 points and Cameron Shockley-Okeke with 11.6 ppg.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will close out the regular season at home versus North Carolina Central Thursday (March .6) in an exciting doubleheader, beginning with the women in a 5:30 pm start followed by a 7:30 pm tipoff with the men.
