ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina women's basketball looks to close out the regular season but fell short in an 88-57defeat to top-ranked Norfolk State Saturday (March. 1) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
South Carolina State 2-26 overall, 1-11 in the MEAC has dropped their ninth straight in a row, while Norfolk State improves to 25-4 overall and remain unbeaten in MEAC play at 12-0.
SCSU was led by
Jada Morgan with 11 points and four rebounds, while senior
Rakyha Reid added 10 points and nine (9) rebounds in the loss.
Despite the 22 loft turnovers, the Lady Bulldogs led in several categories including points in the paint (46-40), bench points (38-29) and rebounding 44-30.
NSU was led by Da'Brya with 20 points, followed by Anjanae Richardson wot 19 and All-American Diamond Johnson with 19 points, seven (7) steals and eight (8) rebounds respectively.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State close out regular season play on home Thursday (Mar.6) versus North Carolina Central inside Smith-Hamond-Middleton Memorial Center. Women tipoff at 5:30 pm, following by the men in a 7:30 pm contest.
