SPARTANBURG-SC, -- South Carolina State men's tennis captured an impressive 6-1 victory after knocking off Wofford, 6-1, Sunday (March 2nd) inside Reeves Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-3 overall, while Wofford falls to 4-5 on the season.
"Solid win today. Wofford has a solid team and we needed to play well today," said head coach Hardeep Judge. "Guys are coming back from some injuries and improving every day."
South Carolina State jumped out early on winning the doubles point at the No.1 with an 6-3 win, followed by a victory at the No.2 doubles a 6-4 victory.
In singles action, at the No. 2 spot Novakovic def. Deveney (6-1,6-2); at the No. 6 spot Johnson def. Graham (6-1, 6-0); at the No. 5 spot Maratuly def. Burdell (6-4, 6-3), at the No. 3 spot Benchakroun def. Clivio (7-6, 6-4) and at the No. 1 spot Bankou def. Young (6-8, 7-6, 10-4).
NEXT UP: The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday on the road versus Kennesaw State in a 3:00 PM start.
