ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State head coach Chennis Berry has announced the hiring of Steven Aycock as the Assistant AD for Football Operations/Chief Staff.
Aycock joins the Bulldog coaching staff after spending the past three season as the Director of Football Operations at Tennessee State University.

Aycock brings a strong background in football management and coaching. Previously with The Carolina Panthers
as the Assistant Special Assistant to the Head Coach. Aycock assisted with daily football office operations and
served as a point of contactfor program operations, coordinating meetings with coaching staff, team doctors, and athletic trainers.
Before joining The Carolina Panthers, Aycock was the Deputy Commissioner for the City of Atlanta Parks and Recreation,
overseeing 125 staff and a $1.5M budget for city recreational centers, establishing long-term operating strategies and leadership culture.
Aycock's coaching experience includes being the head coach at Johnson C. Smith University. During his tenure,
the Golden Bulls went 25-36, but along the way,had a couple of successful seasons. As part of the JCSU football
coaching staff for six seasons, he previously supervised football operations, recruiting, and coached
the offensive line. Before taking over as head coach Aycock would serve as offensive line coach
and recruiting coordinator (2005-08) for the Golden Bulls.
Having over 15 years of coaching experience as an assistant and offensive lineman coach, Aycock brings enthusiasm, passion, and a thorough
understanding of football from various perspectives. A graduate of Savannah State University, he earned honors as
an All-SIAC offensive lineman and Offensive Lineman of the Year. Aycock holds a B.S. in Sports Production from
Savannah State University and is currently working on his
master's degree in organizational leadership from Pfeiffer University.
