Men’s Basketball Open Season On The Road At Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The South Carolina State men's basketball team will open the 2025-26 campaign on the road Monday (Nov.3) evening versus ACC perineal Louisville inside the KFC YUM! Center. Tipoff is set for 9M (ET) and will be televised live on the ACC Network.

LAST TIME OUT: SC State defeated Allen in exhibition play 92-53 on Friday (Oct. 31), while the Cardinals defeated Bucknell 99-76 on Tuesday in exhibition play.

Reaching a Milestone: Last season head coach Erik Martin and the Bulldogs snapped a 22-year drought capturing the programs MEAC Regular Season Title, the first since 2003. The Bulldogs finish with a 20-13 overall mark, 11-3 MEAC record.

HC Erik Martin received numerous national coaching awards including being named MEAC Coach of the Year.  Martin is entering his 4th year at the helm with an overall record of 39-57 overall, 22-20 MEAC. In his last two seasons the Bulldogs have finished in the top three in the league race.

PRESEASON HYPE: Sophomore point guard Jayden Johnson was picked as the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, while the Bulldogs were picked to finished 3rd in the MEAC Champion race behind Howard (2nd) and defending league champion Norfolk State was picked to repeat as tournament champions.

New look: South Carolina State welcomes eight (9) newcomers to this year's roster with a mixture of transfers and a few freshmen to add to the mix.

ABOUT SC STATE ATHLETICS
South Carolina State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 14 sports: women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer and football with all teams competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), except for women's soccer.
