BALTIMORE, MD—Three Bulldogs scored in double figures as South Carolina State capture its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener win over Morgan State, 86-72, Saturday (Jan.4) inside Hill Field House.
Sophomore forward
Drayton Jones had a phenomenal day tossing in team-high 20 points and grabbing six (6) rebounds along with a block and a steal in 20 minutes of play.
Senior forward
Davion Everett had an extra lift in the frontcourt with 18 points and a team-high eight (8) rebounds, while graduate guard
Omar Croskey controlled, he backcourt with 17 points, six (6) rebounds, three (3) steals in the win.
SCSU dominated in just about every category including points in the paint (48-34), points off turnovers (23-14), second chance points (20-7), bench points (37-10), and rebounding (35-27).
The Bulldogs defense played lights out forcing a game-high 17 turnovers.
South Carolina State improves to 7-9 overall, 1-0 MEAC, while Morgan State falls to 6-11 overall, 0-1 in the league.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State resumes MEAC play on the road at Coppin State Monday (Jan. 6) in an 7:30 p.m. start.
