DURHAM, NC—Junior guard
Shaunice Reed tossed in a game-high 26 points, grabbed four (4) rebounds along with two (2) steals, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped an 56-71 decision to host North Carolina Central Saturday (Jan. 25) inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
South Carolina State falls to 2-19 overall, 1-4 in the MEAC, while NCCU improves to 6-14 overall, 3-2 in the league.
Turnovers was the deciding factor in the contest with SCSU posting a costly 26 turnovers.
Senior forward
Rakyha Reid chipped in a team-high nine (9) rebounds and eight (8) points, while guard
Janiah Hinton finished with seven (7) points and five (5) rebounds.
NCCU had three players in double figures with Morgan Callahan leading the way with 17 points along with Shakiria Foster in the win.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will return to action over the weekend with a pair of MEAC contests at Norfolk State (Feb. 1) and Howard on Feb. 3
rd in Washington, DC.
