ORANGEBURG, SC--During Bulldog Spring Football we had a chance to sit down with Director of Recruiting/Academic Coordinator Chris Parrott. Parrott is in his first season in the position under head coach Chennis Berry and sixth overall on the SC State football coaching staff. Parrott earned a Bachelor of Science from SC State in 2019. In 2022, he earned a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, CA. Parrott is a 2015 graduate of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC., where he was a letter-winner in both football and track. Parrott was a member of the 2013 4A State Championship Team. Q: What made you decide to coach for South Carolina State?
A: I was given opportunity to join the staff after I graduated in 2019, and have been here ever since
Q: What would you say was one of the biggest challenges transitioning from a player to a coach?
A: Understanding what goes into the day-to-day operations for a Division I college football program?
Q: What would you tell your younger self as a player that you would as a coach?
A: Study, study, study, weather it is on the field, watching tape, or off the field academics.
Q. What was the best advice given to you as a coach?
A: Keep the main thing, the main thing be where your feet are.
Q. What is the biggest challenge you face today as a coach?
A: keeping up with all the moving parts, and rule changes
Q: What is a misconception about coaches society always claim?
A: That anybody can do it.
Q: When I am not coaching, I am doing?
A: Browsing social media.
Q: If I wasn't coaching football, I would coach what sport?
A: Baseball.
Q: A hidden talent I have no one knows about is?
A: I can play the saxophone.
Q: The person I admire the most in life?
A: My mom.

A: Do everything until your good is better and your better is best.
