ORANGEBURG, SC— The South Carolina State posted its first season sweep in over a decade closing out with a 2-1 victory over visiting Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday (April.20) at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-24 overall, 7-11 in the MEAC.
In Game 1: SC State knocked off UMES scoring five runs and holding the Hawks to one to come away from a 5-1 victory. Lowther was the winning pitcher.
In Game 2: Despite give up four runs on the day, SCSU offense proved to be to up scoring a game-high seven runs to come away with an7-4 victory to close out the doubleheader.
In Game 3: Late in the game the defense prevailed on both side with SC State scoring first to go ahead 1-0. UMES managed to tie the game late, but the Lady Bulldogs would not be denied of the sweep scoring extra run in the bottom the sixth to claim a 2-1 victory.
South Carolina State returns to action Wednesday (April.24) in a three-game non-conference battle with USC-Upstate beginning at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg, SC.
