DURHAM, NC—Freshman forward
Taniya McGowan tossed in a game-high 20 points, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped an 54-73 decision to North Carolina Central Thursday (March 7) inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
South Carolina State falls to 2-27 overall, 1-13 in the MEAC, while NCCU improves to 15-14 overall, 9-5 in the league.
Senior forward Cassandra Colon grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and scored seven points, while Jordan Reledord finished with 12 in the loss.
NCCU was led by Kima Carter with 16 points, while Morgan Callahan recorded the games only double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
Despite the loss, SCSU led the way in fast break points (9-6) and bench points (41-34).
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will travel to Norfolk, VA to participate in the 2024 MEAC Women's Basketball Tournament March.13-16 inside the Scope Arena.
