FINAL BOX SCORE VS. PC
CLINTON, S.C. – The South Carolina State men's tennis team knocked off Presbyterian College in a tight 4-3 battle at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.
South Carolina State improved to 3-4 on the season, while the Blue Hose fall to 5-5.
"It was a good win for us versus an exceptionally good PC team. Beating the defending Big South Champions at their place was a major," said SC Stare head coach Hardeep Judge. "We continue to battle through injuries and somehow we are digging deep as a team."
Judge noted, "I am proud of our guys and was happy to see some alumni coming out to support in out match with Presbyterian.
DOUBLES
South Carolina State captured the doubles point with wins at number one and two doubles.
SINGLES
The two teams split the six singles matches. At number four singles, Presbyterian's
David Mamalat tied the match at one with a 6-1, 6-1 victory which was his third straight win.
South Carolina State took a 2-1 lead after a win at number six singles with
Ivan Pauliuchenka def. Foglieni 6-4, 6-4. Cardoso tied the match at two with a 6-4, 6-1 win at number five singles which marked his third straight victory.
South Carolina State won the overall match with victories at number three with
Aissa Benchakroun def, Vasilakis 6-4,7-8, 6-6 and two singles with
Mikalai Bankou def. Yaday 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
UP NEXT
South Carolina State will take on George Mason Wednesday (March 6) at the Hilton Head Spring Tournament in a 12 pm first serve.
