ORANGEBURG, SC—Jordan Releford tossed in a season-high 18 points, while teammate Cassandra Colon added 14, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped yet another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest to Morgan State 65-59 Saturday (Feb.3) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
South Carolina State falls to 1-20 overall, 0-6 in the MEAC, while Morgan State improves to 7-14 overall, 2-4 in the league.
Despite the loss, the Lady Bulldogs led in several categories including bench points (30-10) and rebounds (37-26).
Morgan State led 27-21 during intermission. MSU built their biggest lead 11, 61-50 in the second half with 1:07 remaining. SCSU pulled within six, 63-57 but could not close the deal to secure the win.
Morgan State had three players in double-figures with Amari Smith leading the way with 15, Sedayjha Payne with 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Joelle Johnson chipped 12 and Jael Bulter 11 respectively.
UP NEXT: South Carolina State will host Coppin State to conclude conference play for the weekend on Monday, February 5
