ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women basketball teams will host Delaware State Saturday (Feb. 24) in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Tipoff for the women is 2 p.m., followed by the men in a 4 p.m. start immediately following the women's contest.
OCCASION: South Carolina State will welcome back all former student-athletes in "Coming Home 2024", along with honors our AD Academic Scholars with a 3.0 GPA or better as well as saluting our seniors.
SERIES: On the men's side SC State leads the series 11-7, with the Bulldogs captured a 66-64 win over the Hornets in Dover, DE on Jan. 27
th. Meanwhile on the women's side, the DSU leads the series 11-10 and have a three-game winning streak over the Lady bulldogs win their last outing 49-61.
The Bulldogs (10-16 overall, 5-4 MEAC) look for a season sweep over the Hornets after winning earlier this season on the road 66-64. SC State is coming off an impressive 75-65 win over Howard in their last outing.
Meanwhile DSU (12-13 overall, 5-4 MEAC), have posted back-to-back league wins after knocking off Morgan State (66-56) and Coppin State (80-58).
On the women's side, the Lady Bulldogs (1-26 overall 0-9 MEAC) look to turn things around this season and capture their first league win. The Lady Hornet (6-15 overall, 2-16 MEAC) look to snap a four-game losing skid. Their last win came in a 61-49 victory over SCSU on Jan.27 in Orangeburg.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will host Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday (Feb.26) in the MEAC doubleheader with the women in a 5:30 p.m. start, followed by the men in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
