ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will open the 2024-25 campaign at home Monday (Nov. 4) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
The Lady Bulldogs will tip the night off versus Furman at 5:30 p.m., while the men will take on Morris College in a 7:30 p.m. start.
SCSU women's head coach
Tim Eatman is entering his third season at the helm and look to turn things around after finishing 2-28 overall, 1-13 in the MEAC last season. Eatman welcomes back three senior leaders in guard's
Janiah Hinton and
Mekayla Lumpkin. The frontcourt will be led by
Rakyha Reid along with sophomore forward Taniya McGowman.
This year's team will also feature seven (7) newcomers along with freshman and transfers. Also returning from last years squad are
Monajah Ford,
Jhaven Meade,
Jada Morgan and
Heaven Harper.
On the men's side, Coach
Erik Martin also entering his third season will be led by Preseason All-MEAC selections guards
Omar Croskey and
Mitchell Taylor.
The Bulldogs coming off their best finish since 2015-16 wrapped up the season 14-17 overall, 9-5 in the MEAC.
Martin will have a veteran squad this year along with Croskey,
Michael Teal and
Wilson Dubinsky returns in the backcourt for the Bulldogs.
Caleb McCarty and
Davion Everett along with sophomore sensation
Drayton Jones will anchor the frontcourt.
Seven (7) newcomers will bolster the roster along with returners
Mitchell Taylor,
James Morrow John Seay-Oliver.
