BALTIMORE, MD—The MEAC race is heating up with South Carolina State (7-2, 3-0) taking on Morgan State (5-5, 2-1) in a pivotal clashing Saturday, Nov. 11 at Hughes Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
The game will air on ESPN+ and will also be broadcast by WEAA, 88.9FM.
The Bears are riding a wave of momentum, looking to extend their winning streak to three games and maintain their hopes for a coveted spot in the Celebration Bowl. The Bulldogs, boasting an impressive 7-2 record and a perfect 3-0 in conference play, find themselves on the brink of securing the MEAC title.

Chennis Berry (Savannah State, '94) was named head football coach at South Carolina State University on December 16th, 2023. The former Benedict College (Columbia, SC) head coach succeeded the iconic Coach Oliver "Buddy" Pough, the winningest coach in Bulldog football history who retired as head football coach at the end of the 2023 season after 22 seasons at the helm and 151 wins.

- Bulldogs ranked in nation are defense end Ashaad Hall is #1 in country in sacks with 11.0 (1.28 per game), while Jayden Broughton is ranked #5 with 8.5 (1.06).
- Eric Phoenix is ranked 13th in the nation in passing yards with 263.0 yards per game.
- Last week Four Bulldogs earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Weekly honors, presented by Coca-Cola the league announced. South Carolina State wide receiver Einaj Carter was named (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, fellow Bulldogs Kwantre Harry earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Tray Franklin and Dyson Roberts earned Offensive Lineman and Specialist of the Week honors, respectively..
- Offensively, SCSU shades a little bit more on the pass, throwing for 2548 yards to 1482 on the ground and a total of 20 touchdowns on the season.
- The Bulldogs have had five different players throw a pass this season, but the primary signal-caller has been Eric Phoenix, who has thrown for 2375 yards in eight games, averaging 262.8 yards per game. He has completed 250 of his 160 passes with 19 touchdowns and seven (7) interceptions.
- Caden High has been his go-to receiver, hauling in 51 passes for 784 yards – an average of 87.11 per game – with six (6) touchdown connections. Justin Smith-Brown also has 590 yards on 39 catches, while Einaj Carter (505 yards on 30 catches).
- On the ground, Deondra Duehart has been a force, rushing for 437 yards and seven touchdowns on 110 carries, averaging 4.0 yards per carry and 54.63 yards per game. KZ Adams has 68 carries for 372-yards, but he also has two touchdowns to his credit.
- Defensively, there's an even cluster of players on the tackle charts, led All-MEAC performer Aaron Smith with 63 tackles, 4 TFL. Diego Addison has 35 stops and four for-loss, while also six (6) pass breakups. Ashaad Hall has 35 tackles with 11 sacks for 52 yards, while Jadin Jones posted 35tackles for 2.5 tackles for loss and Michael Brunson collecting the team's two interceptions.
