ORANGEBURG, SC.— SC State Bulldogs (4-2, 0-0 MEAC) will turn their attention to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play as the host the visiting Hornets of Delaware State (1-6, 0-0 MEAC) Saturday (Oct.26) inside Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
INSIDE LOOK THE GAME
SC State has won three straight contests, including a 30-3 home triumph over Fort Valley State last Saturday. Coach Chennis Berry's team, which improved to 4-2 on the season is seeking to get off to a winning start in the league. Today's game is the first of five straight MEAC games for SC State. The visiting Hornets, meanwhile, who have struggled all season, have lost four in a row, including a 23-0 setback at Robert Morris last week. The game provides Coach Lee Hull's squad an opportunity to snap its four-game slide and get off to a winning start in league play. Despite the Hornets' slow start and unimpressive record, the Bulldogs' Berry is not taking Delaware State lightly.
"It's MEAC time," Berry said at his weekly press conference. "It is time to go 1-0 in the MEAC. Delaware State (despite its record) will be a challenge for our team. Coach Lee Hull is a good coach. They (the Hornets) have a dual threat QB (6-1, 190 r-So.) in Marqui Adams, a running back (6-1, 218 Gr. Jaden Sutton) who is averaging 6.3 ypc, and a defense that does an excellent job. It is important that we eliminate all distractions and focus on our main objective – to win a football game."
SC State has been impressive at times during the season; however, Coach Berry is looking for more consistency from his team. "It's important that we play well and focus on our main goal – to go 1-0 every Saturday," Berry said. "We have looked very good at times, playing well at all three phases of the game, offense defense, special teams but we must have all three going well more consistently."
