Mitchell Taylor leading the way with a team-high 12 points and four (4) assists, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough, 72-79, loss Saturday (Jan.6) against top-ranked Norfolk State in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center

Jordan Simpson added 11 points, eight (8) rebounds and five (5) assists, while teammate
Raquan Brown chipped in 11 respectively in the loss.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs led in several categories including Second Chance Points (29-8), Bench Points (47-27) and Rebounds (38-35).
The Spartans were led by Jamarri Thomas with 16 points and five (5) rebounds, while Daryl Anderson added 13 points and four (4) rebounds in the win.
South Carolina State falls to 4-13 overall, 0-1 MEAC, while Norfolk State improves to 10-7 overall, 1-0 in the league.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State remain at home in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play Monday (Jan. 8) versus Howard inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
