ORANGEBURG, SC --- Seniors Dexter Ratliff and Waddell Rembert-Jett, and the men's 4x100-meter relay team led a strong outing for the South Carolina State track teams at the University of North Florida East Coach Relays at Jacksonville, FL Apr. 28-29. Over 60 colleges and universities made up the field
 
Overall, SCSU teams combined for fourteen (14) personal records (PR) and seven (7) season-best (SB) performances for Coach Donald Cooper.
 
Ratliff had a toss of 49.17m (161-4 ft.) in the discus to take over first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Rembert-Jett set a personal record (PR) in the 100 meters with a time of 10.22 to take the top spot in the event in the league, and the men's 4x100m relay team (Jalen Alleyne, Rembert-Jett, Erick Hill and Kristopher Brown) completed the course in a season-best time of 40.44 to climb to third in the MEAC.
 
"It was solid weekend for us," said Cooper. "We are not where we are capable of being, but several athletes have stepped up to help us be more competitive. We head into the conference championships our next time out and plan give our best effort and leave it all on track, the runways and throwing areas.  The coaching staff is doing an excellent job preparing our athletes to compete at their highest."
 
Other strong showings for Coach Donald Cooper's teams were Ratliff with a PR in the hammer throw (47.96m), Brown with a season-best run in the 200 meters (21.02), Rembert-Jett with a PR in the 200 meters (21.58), Barrington Walker with a PR in the 400 meters (48.74), Angelica Frederick with a PR in the women's 200 meters (24.57) and 400 meters, and Debrielle Williams with a PR in the women's 400 meters (58.97)
 
SC State's next outing will be the MEAC Outdoor Championships set for May 9-11 at Norfolk, VA
