BALTIMORE, MD—
Nicole Gwynn led the Lady Bulldogs with a game-high 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds to knock off Coppin State, 63-61, and lead South Carolina State to its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win of the season Saturday (Feb.4
th) at Physical Education Complex.
Lovely Sonnier added 12 points and eight rebounds, while
Janiah Hinton chipped in nine and five rebounds in the win.
South Carolina State improves to 2-19 overall, 1-5 in the MEAC, while Coppin State falls to 4-16 overall, 1-4 in the league.
The Lady Bulldogs with just seven players on hand, dominated in several categories including points in the paint (30-18), field goal percentage (48.2%-35.8%) and three-point percentage (42.9%-33.3%).
Coppin State was led by Jewel Watkins with 25 points and nine rebounds and Mossi Staples added 17 in the loss.
