ORANGEBURG, SC---The South Carolina State men's basketball team will open the 2023-24 regular season at home Monday (Nov. 6
th) versus Voorhees in an 7 p.m. tip-off at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Coach
Erik Martin in his second season welcomes eight (8) newcomers and return six (6) from last year's team who finished 5-26 overall, 2-12 in the MEAC.
Sophomore guard
Jordan Simpson was selected on the Preseason All-MEAC Third Team, voted by the coaches and sports information directors around the league. A native of Orangeburg, SC he appeared in 30 contests for the Bulldogs averaging 17.8 minutes per game, while tossing in 7.0 points and grabbing 2.5 rebounds last season. Simpson scored a season-high 17 points versus Norfolk State and grabbed eight (8) rebounds on 1/28/23. He was also named to the MEAC All-Rookie Team.
UP NEXT: South Carolina State will hit the road to take on South Florida in a non-conference matchup Thursday (Nov. 9
th) in Tampa, Fla. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
