DURHAM, NC—The South Carolina State women's basketball team dropped their first league opener Saturday (Jan.14th) on the road versus North Carolina Central in an 55-72 setback at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Nicole Gwynn led the Lady Bulldogs with a team-high 18 points and six rebounds, while shooting 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Teammates
Janiah Hinton added 12 and
Lovely Sonnier 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
NCCU was led by Jerni Kiaku with a game-high 25 points.
South Carolina State falls to 1-15 overall, 0-1 in the MEAC, while North Carolina Central improves to 7-11 overall, 1-2 in the league.
