Aggies, Bulldogs Set To Battle Saturday On ESPN+

GREENSBORO, NC—
The SC State Bulldogs (1-1) look to continue their winning ways Saturday (Sept. 24th) when they battle former MEAC foe and rival N.C. A&T State Aggies (0-3) at Truist Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN+.

THE SERIES: The Aggies have won the last six meetings between the two teams, while SC State leads the series 33-23-2 all-time.

A&T HEAD COACH SAM WASHINGTON: Washington is in his fifth season overall and his fourth season on the sideline after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Aggies to cancel the 2020 season. Washington is 24-14 (.632) as A&T's head coach. Washington won coach of the year honors in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in 2018.

SCSU HEAD COACH BUDDY POUGH: Pough is the dean of MEAC coaches. He is in his 21st season with the Bulldogs, coming off his latest conference championship and his latest HBCU national championship. Pough came into the 2022 season with eight MEAC titles and three HBCU national titles. He holds an 144-81 (.640) overall and 109-38 in the MEAC, and four NCAA postseason appearances and four MEAC coach of the year awards.  

LAST TIMEOUT: The Bulldogs knocked off SWAC foe Bethune-Cookman 33-9 on the road in Daytona Beach, Florida in Week # 2. Last week SC State was IDLE. Meanwhile, N.C. A&T State look to turn things around after suffering an 40-29 setback to Duke in their last outing.

The AGGIES: Sophomore running back Bhayshul Tuten is the leader on the ground with 44 carries for 280-yards, while quarterback Zachary Yeager is 24-53 for 280-yards and 1 TD. The defense is led by Tyquan King with 33 tackles and 2 TFL loss.

The BULLDOGS: Redshirt sophomore running back Kendrell Flowers leads the attack on the ground with 24 carries for 156-yards and 2 TD's. Shaquan Davis is leader with the receiving corps with 3 catches for 122-yards and 2 TD's. BJ Davis is the leader on defense with 16 tackles, 2 TFL and 2 INT, while junior defensive lineman Jeblonski Green, Jr is 11 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks in two games.

NEXT UP South Carolina State takes on intrastate rival and SEC foe South Carolina in a non-conference matchup Saturday (Oct.1st) at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC. The game will televise live on the SEC Network at 12 noon.
