ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State Department of Athletics mourns the loss of former Lady Bulldog Basketball player Zeleria Simpson who was killed in a two-car accident early Friday (Feb.26th) morning.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to all the individuals involved in the accident, especially the ones who lost their lives, "said Director of Athletics Stacy Danley. "Our students and student-athletes are the heart and soul of the university and when something happens to one we all feel the pain."
Simpson, a Charleston, SC native was a member on the Lady Bulldog basketball team from 2019-20, where she played point guard and left everything she had on the floor in every game played.
She was a recent graduate in May 2021 with a degree in criminal justice and law enforcement administration.
