ORANGEBURG, SC– The Lady Bulldogs still seeking their first win of the season suffered an 1-2 setback to Shaw University, Wednesday night (Sept 8) at the O.C Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
Shaw scored its first goal at 27:49 mark off a side kick by Victoria Hines. The Bears then extended its lead to an 2-0 advantage on a goal up the middle by Jayna Nicholson with an assist by Breslyn Studebaker with 38:33 remaining in the first half.
The Lady Bulldogs scored its only goal of the night off a corner kick by Ha'Teya Holloman (Marietta, GA) late in the second half.
SC State posted six saves by goalie
Luisa Marschhausen (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) along with six corner kicks in the match. Shaw finished with four saves from goalie Gabrielle Rouanet and four corner kicks, respectively.
SC State returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 12th) when they travel to take on USC-Upstate in Spartanburg, SC in a 3 p.m. showdown.
