ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State freshman sprinter Brenton Shippy will be among 42 athletes and eight relay teams from Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schools competing at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL.
 
Shippy, a native of Homestead, FL, will be competing in the 100 meters. He is one of five MEAC performers set to run in the event, which gets underway Wednesday at 6:16 p.m. with six Heats. Shippy, entered in Heat 1, has a career-best time of 10.39 in the event.
 
The top three runners from each Heat and the next best six times will advance to Friday's 100-meter finals which will be run at 5:52 p.m. with three Heats. The top three from each heat and the next best three times from Friday's competition advance to the NCAA Championship at Eugene Oregon, Jun. 9-12.
