GREENVILLE, NC—South Carolina State opens the 2021-22 campaign on the road versus East Carolina Tuesday (Nov. 9
th) inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
The game will be streamed live via ESPN+ with Si Seymour and Patrick Johnson on the call.
First-year head coach
Tony Madlock will look to turn around a struggling Bulldog program, who finished 1-17 overall, 1-7 in the MEAC last season.
South Carolina State returns 10 letterwinners, including Preseason All-MEAC performer guard
Rahsaan Edwards led the team in scoring last season with 9.5 points and 2.7 rebounds. Forward
Jemel Davis is the leader on the boards at 5.4 rebounds and 7.9 points per contest.
Madlock welcomes five newcomers to his team to help improve the chemistry this upcoming season.
One of the new faces on the roster is graduate transfer
Deaquan Williams. While playing with Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, Williams was the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year and a BOXTOROW Second-Team All-American.
Another talented newcomer is freshman
T.J. Madlock, who decided to sign with South Carolina State when his father took the head-coaching job. Madlock led his high school team to a state championship a year ago and was ranked the No. 11 prospect in the state of Tennessee by 24/7 Sports.
Next up South Carolina State will participate in the "Rising Coaches Classic" where they take on host College of Charleston on Thursday (Nov.11
th) at 7 p.m., Loyola University (Maryland) on Friday (Nov. 12
th ) at 4 p.m. and Lipscomb University on Saturday in a 7:30 p.m. start.
