ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team posted their first win of the season after posting a, 3-0, shutout win over Alcorn State Sunday (Sept. 8
th) at Jack Spinks-Marino Stadium.
The Lady Bulldogs led in several categories including shots (16-2) and corner kicks (6-0).
Senior midfielder
Jamey Thomas put SCSU on the board with a goal at the 13:21 mark and an assist by
Serena Schwartz in the first-half to make the score 1-0. The Lady Bulldogs managed to advance to a 2-0 lead over Alcorn State on a score by senior defender/midfielder
Kayla Mazariego at 31:59.
South Carolina State led 2-0 during intermission.
Freshman Trinity Kelley sealed the victory for the Lady Bulldogs with a late goal and assist by sophomore
Shi'Anne Swift at the 88:15 mark.
SC State returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 12
th) when they host Winthrop University in a 7 p.m. start at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
