CLINTON, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 decision in overtime to Presbyterian College Tuesday (Sept. 17
th).
South Carolina State falls to 1-5 overall, while PC posted their first win of the season to improve to 1-6 overall.
"It was a tough loss tonight," said head coach Sandy Burris. "The girls are still working hard we just have to make some adjustments moving forward to improve some of our mistakes. We had a few players out so we are hoping they will be ready to play this weekend."
SC State without several starters in the lineup managed to give PC all they can handle throughout the contest.
PC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead off a goal of 23-yards by Caroline Dipzinski at the 14:22 mark in the first half. SCSU responded with back-to-back goals by senior
Tamika Aguilar (30:21) and junior
Carissa Reese (44:39) to increase the lead 2-1.
Morgan Hutchison's assist to Sydni Dachs tied the game 2-2 at the 50:56 mark in the second half to force overtime. The Lady Bulldogs seem to run out of gas down the stretch, before the PC duo responded once again with a kick from Hutchison and assist from Dachs to seal the 3-2 victory for the home team.
Junior goalkeeper Luis Marschhausen finished with a game-high 6 saves in the loss.
