ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State held its fourth preseason workout Tuesday (Aug. 6
th) afternoon amid hot and humid temperatures at O.C. Dawson Stadium. Tuesday's practice, the second day conducted in shells (helmets and shoulder pads), lasted a little over two hours.
The Bulldogs continued to install their offensive and defensive schemes and also placed emphasis on running in order to assist the players in getting acclimated to the hot temperatures, during preseason drills.
"I am very pleased with the way the players handled the hot weather and was able to battle through practice with no problem," said Pough. "The guys have entered camp with confidence and ready to put in work to be better this year."
Pough noted, "A lot of the reason why this team is further along than any teams in the past is due to the fact of how we finished last season. Winning four out the last five, with majority of the team returning left the guys with some "unfinished business" heading into 2019."
Also, Pough and redshirt junior quarterback
Tyrece Nick along with senior nose tackle
Tyrell Goodwin, were featured on the national syndicated radio show "Sports Talk" hosted by Phil Kornblut. South Carolina State was the first stop on the annual "Palmetto Pigskin Tour" at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium.
The Bulldogs resume preseason drills Wednesday (August 7
th) in a morning practice at 9:30 a.m. in helmets and shells, followed by an afternoon session on Thursday (Aug. 8
th) at 2:30 p.m., and a wrap up of the week on Friday (August 9
th) in a 9:30 a.m. practice in full gear.
