SPARTANBURG, SC—South Carolina State women's soccer team dropped their season opener in a tough, 5-1, decision to Wofford College Friday (Aug. 23
rd) at Snyder Field.
The Lady Bulldogs without some of their top players, fell behind early on 2-0 during intermission.
Wofford's Katie Gilligan push the lead to 3-0 off a penalty kick goal at the 64:15 mark. SCSU scored its only goal off a kick by junior
Elizabeth McGee to cut the lead 3-1.
WC held on to victory after two late goals extended the lead 5-1.
South Carolina State returns to action on Wednesday, Aug. 28
th when they host North Dakota State at O.C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field in an 7 p.m. start.
