ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's tennis teams opened up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play with a sweep over Florida A&M Saturday (May. 30
th ) at the
Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 11-3 overall, 1-0 in the MEAC with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Lady Rattlers of FAMU. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs improved to 6-11 overall, 1-0 in the league.
The women opened up down 0-1 losing the double points to FAMU. SC State rallied back to capture four straight single points at the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs captured the doubles point early on for a 1-0 lead. In single actions it was all South Carolina State winning at the No.1 spot, No. 3 spot, No.4 spot, No. 5 spot, and No. 6 spot.
Next up South Carolina State will take on Charlotte on Friday, April 5
th in a non-conference matchup in Charlotte, NC beginning at 10 a.m., while the men take on league opponent NC Central on Sunday, April 7th in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown, beginning at 1 p.m.
