CHARLESTON, SC—Junior guard
Heniaya Moton tossed in a game-high 31 points to lead South Carolina State to an, 81-75, overtime victory over Charleston Southern Saturday (Nov. 9
th) at Buccaneer Field House.
Preseason All-MEAC forward
Taylor Brown recorded the games only double-double with 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Moton connected 7-of-17 from behind arc, while shooting 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.
The Lady Bulldogs (1-1 overall, 0-0 MEAC) led in several categories including points in the paint (34/30), 2
nd chance points (22/12), fast break points (13/12) and rebounds (49/43). South Carolina State improved from the season-opener shooting 80% from the free-throw line as a team.
Junior guard
Jacquece Alston added 11 points and eight rebounds in the win.
South Carolina State returns to action on Tuesday (Nov.12
th) when they host Radford University in a 7 p.m. contest at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
