SC State Holds “Meet The Players Day” For Fans In The Community

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State Department of Athletics held its annual Meet The Players/Fan Fest Community Day Saturday (Aug. 25^th) at the Bulldog practice field with over 300 fans in attendance.

The community got a chance to meet the 2018 Bulldog Football team and student-athletes from various sports at the university, along with The STATE Club members holding their annual membership drive.

Athletics Director Stacy Danley was on hand to meet and greet with the community, along with Deputy AD/SWA Tiffany D. Tucker exciting the crowd of Bulldog fans ready for some football.

Others in attendance were Head Coach Emeritus Willie Jeffries along with his wife Mary Jeffries, Mayor Pro Tem Liz Zimmerman Keitt and other city and county officials.

The highlights of the day were the Orangeburg community and kids had a chance to get an autograph and picture taken with their favorite player. Coach Buddy Pough and his coaching staff along with players presented each kid in attendance with a bag of school supplies in appreciation for their support of the football team.

South Carolina State kicks off the 2018 season on Saturday (Sept. 1^st) in Statesboro, GA against Georgia Southern in the season-opener. Kickoff time is 6 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN+.
