NORFOLK, VA---The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams resume Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play action Monday (Feb.19
th) when they take on host Norfolk State in a pivotal league doubleheader at Echols Hall.
Tip-off for the women is 6 p.m., followed by the men in an 8 p.m. start.
Both South Carolina State teams look to bounce back after dropping a pair of tough losses to Hampton on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-15 overall, 4-8 MEAC) dropped a tough 42-60 decision to Hampton. Junior guard/forward Keysha Lewis finished with a team-high 11 points in the loss.
The Lady Spartans (15-9 overall, 8-4 MEAC/4
th) enter the contest after an 83-51 victory over Savannah State on Saturday at home. Gabrielle Swinson led the way with a team-high 15 points.
Meanwhile on the men's side, the Bulldogs (9-18 overall, 5-7 MEAC/7
th) after a slow shooting night against to Pirates look to turn things around versus the Spartans.
Senior guard Patrell Rogers scored a team-high 15 points in the loss.
In their last outing, the Spartans (10-17 overall, 8-4 MEAC/4
th) posted an impressive 85-77 victory over top-ranked Savannah State Saturday. Derrick Jamerson led NSU with 17 points in the win.
South Carolina State return to action on a (Feb. 24
th) at home when they host N.C. Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is 2 p.m. for the women, with the men following in an 4 p.m. start.
