THE LAST TIME:South Carolina State defeated Miami of Ohio 71-67 in Oxford, Ohio (Jan. 2, 2016). 
 
LAST OUTING: South Carolina State dropped a tough 84-88 decision to USC Upstate on last week. Junior forward and All-MEAC Preseason Selection Damani Applewhite leads the Bulldogs with 19.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Senior guard Janai Raynor-Powell is the floor general at 9.4 points per outing and 3.2 rebounds, while junior forward Ozante Fields 9 points and 5.7 boards per contest. South Carolina State is under the direction of sixth-year head coach Murray Garvin.
 
Meanwhile, the Miami of Ohio (6-5) snapped a two-game winning streak with a tough 66-72 road loss to Northern Kentucky on Sunday (Dec. 16^th). Three Redhawks scored double-figures with Nike Sibande leading the way with 13 points, while teammates Dalonte Brown with 12 and Abdoulaye Harouna 10.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Dec. 22^ndagainst University of Cincinnati in a 2 p.m. contest.
