FORT WAYNE, Ind. –Junior forward Damani Applewhite tossed in a game-high 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State fell short,72-68, on the road against Purde Fort Wayne Tuesday (Nov. 20^th ) at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Senior point guard Janai Raynor-Powell added 12 points, seven rebounds and six assist, while junior forward Ozante Field chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
 
"This was our best effort so far. I give my guys a lot of credit for stepping up against a good team and this being our third game in six days, "said head coach Murray Garvin.  "I saw some things to build off moving forward. Our guys will compete and our will to win will eventually breakthrough"
 
The Bulldogs matched their largest lead of the game at 49-42 with 11:42 left in the game following six consecutive points. South Carolina State finished 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the charity stripe and 3-of-7 from behind the three-point arc.
