Box Score 3 VIRGINIA BEACH, VA— The South Carolina State volleyball team showed a strong showing in the MEAC North-South Challenge finishing 1-2 over the weekend.
In the first matchup against Hampton on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs dropped a tough 0-3 defeat (22-25, 16-25, 8-25) to the Lady Pirates.
On Saturday SC State bounced back to defeat Norfolk State 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-27, 15-11) in five sets to capture their first win of the season. Meanwhile, in the final contest of the day top-ranked UMES knocked of the Lady Bulldogs 3-0 (11-25, 21-25, 15-25) to close out tournament play.
South Carolina State improves to 1-12 on the season and will resume play on Tuesday (Sept. 26) in Statesboro, GA against host Georgia Southern. First serve is 6:30 p.m.
