FB: Bulldogs Hold Strong During Preseason Drills

ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State head coach Buddy Pough praised how well his team is coming along during preseason drills, but also addressed some concerns at certain positions.

The Bulldogs practiced for nearly three hours Wednesday (Aug. 9th) in full gear in an afternoon session held at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium.

"I am really pleased at the way some of these new players are coming along through the preseason," said Pough. "We are still going through our installation phase and getting a sense of who can help us put together a valid depth chart."

"It's still too early to tell we are in practice eight and you have some players showing some signs of brilliance and then some are trying to find their way, "stated Pough. "We have our first scrimmage on Saturday (Aug. 12th) after that we can get a better evaluation on where we are as a team."

Pough also noted, a few players were held out due to minor injuries and the offense line is struggling some with the lack of depth at the position.

The Bulldogs close out the week with a Thursday (Aug. 10) morning session at 9:10 a.m., and Friday (Aug.11th) afternoon at 2:30 p.m., in preparation for their first scrimmage Saturday (Aug.12th) afternoon at 3:10 p.m.

SC State will hold its Media/Picture Day on Saturday, Aug. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. The annual "Meet the Players Day," hosted by The S.T.A.T.E Club, is set for Saturday, Aug. 19that 12 p.m. More details on these events will be released later.
