SAVANNAH, GA—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will play its final regular season contest Thursday (Mar. 2) on the road against Savannah State at Tiger Arena. Tipoff is 8 p.m., immediately following the women's contest in a 6 p.m. start.

The Bulldogs look to extend their league winning streak to three straight with a win over Savannah State, as well an avenge an early season 82-86 loss (1/16/17) to the Tigers in Orangeburg. Four Bulldogs scored double-figures with
Eric Eaves leading the way with a team-high 23 points.
Tashombe Riley added 13 and Jani Raynor Powell chipped in a season-high 12 points. Senior
Greg Mortimer and
Ed Stephens finished with 10 each in the loss.
LAST TIMEOUT: South Carolina State (10-18 overall, 7-8 MEAC) knocked off Florida A&M 75-64 at home on last Saturday. Senior's
Eric Eaves finished with 22 points, while Savannah, GA native
Greg Mortimer added 20 in the win on Senior Day.
Meanwhile SSU (12-16 overall, 9-6 MEAC), pulled off an impressive nail biter on the road defeating top-ranked North Carolina Central 74-73 in Durham, NC on Monday. Dexter McClanahan led the Tigers with a game-high 23 points.
BULLDOG NOTE: Eric Eaves and
Edward Stephens became the first Bulldog duo in school history to reach the 1000-point milestone in the same season. Stephens reached the milestone against Hampton (Feb. 6, 2017) and currently has 1078 career points, while Eaves with 1,058 career points broke the mark against rival N.C. A&T (Feb.13, 2017) in only two seasons. The last player to reach the milestone was four-year starting point guard Khalif Toombs back in 2012-13.
