COLUMBIA, SC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs will hit the road to take on SEC foe and intrastate rival South Carolina Friday (Feb.10) at the Carolina Tennis Center. First serve is 5 p.m.
Admission and parking for all tennis matches is free of charge.
The Bulldogs is coming off a tough 2-4 loss to Coastal Carolina in Orangeburg at the
Hardeep Judge Tennis Center. Junior
Jakub Vitek was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Vitek (6-0, Jr., Czech Republic) picked up wins in both singles and doubles action against Coastal Carolina on Tuesday. He defeated Coastal's Zak Talic in the No. 3 singles position, 6-4, 6-2, before teaming with
Martin Figura in the No. 1 doubles spot to pick up a 6-1 win over Talic and Luiz Faria.
BULLDOG NOTES:
- The team is made up of five seniors and four juniors, all returning from the 2016 season.
- The Bulldogs finished the 2015-16 season 12-9 overall and 3-1 in league play.
- SC State has won 12-of-13 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference titles.
- Head coach Hardeep Judge enters his 16th season at SC State.
Meanwhile, The Gamecocks are returning home after defeating Quinnipiac, Dartmouth and Georgia Southern on the road. South Carolina is 5-0 on the season, their best start since 2012. The team will return to action Friday, Feb. 17 to face NC State at home.
SC State will return to action on Friday (Feb.17) on the road in Greensboro, NC versus league rival North Carolina A&T Aggies in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown. First serve is 1 p.m.
